Tring Swim Club Championships 2023 - Get Ready!

E Dolton
What: Our own internal licenced gala open to all members of the club
When: Sunday 1 and Sunday 8 October. Each day will consist of 2 sessions each with 3 races. Warm up for session 1 each day will be 1.00 and it should all be finished by the early evening.
Eligibility: There are no entry restrictions based upon either age or swimming times. A key objective is to maximise participation.
Races and Schedule:

Entry Process and Withdrawal Deadline:
Building on the fantastic participation levels seen at recent splash nights and open meets, and to maximise the opportunity of running our own licenced event, all eligible club members will be entered automatically for a selection of events by default. A tailored set of events has been selected by the coaches as being appropriate to each squad as set out below:

Any swimmer who is unavailable or wishes to enter a different combination of races to the default should discuss this with their coach or Johnny before Friday 1 September 2023.

Swim England Membership:
Swim England Membership is required as a condition of insurance for the licenced gala and therefore, from 1 September all academy members (existing and new members) will be required to hold Swim England ‘Club Train’ membership at a minimum. All existing academy members who are not currently Swim England members will be contacted with full instructions on actions required.

Cost:
To cover the running costs of holding the Club Championships including additional pool hire, medals and prizes, we need to levy a small charge to all entrants as follows:
Note that Open Meet entry costs are typically £7-£9 per event, so this represents excellent value.

Spectators:
Spectators are most welcome and it would be fantastic to fill the spectator gallery. There will be a £2.50 spectator charge per session and we will ask spectators to sign up to sessions in advance so that we have an indication of numbers. You will be contacted about this closer to the event.

Volunteers:
A number of volunteers will be needed to enable the event to run smoothly! In addition to officiating and timekeeping we will need marshals, recorders and runners so please look out for separate requests asking for availability. No experience is required for most roles.

Sponsorship:
Your swimming club needs you! We have identified some essential equipment which will be required to support the event – primarily 4 backstroke ledges, a new high speed monochrome laser printer and two basic laptops (1 GHz processor with 2GB RAM- Windows not Macs) which can be dedicated to running the competition software. These are items which will be of benefit for many years to come at club champs, splash nights and even league events.

Given the range of contacts held by the broader club membership we are asking club members themselves, or their contacts / local businesses if they might be prepared to support us in purchasing these items. All contributions and contacts would be much appreciated and a range of marketing opportunities can be offered in return including specific event/ race sponsorship (from £50), profile in the event programme and social media coverage. Please contact Mike if you think you might be able to help.

Other Information:
In addition to the swimming, we are planning to have a raffle, a cake stall and stall showcasing a selection of club merchandise (useful for Christmas ideas?) and potentially a coffee van. Please do come forward if you have any other ideas that would help to complete the event.

Awards Night:
Following the Club Champs we will be organising an awards night to recognise all the great achievements of every swimmer at the club.
