Coaches update

A huge well done to everyone who raced at County Championships at the weekend – every swimmer was a credit to the club and our teamwork all weekend was fantastic, exactly what we’re looking to build upon and strengthen.  Results give the club a good base to build upon as we aim for success in the Herts League in Feb-Apr, and especially towards significantly boosting the number of swimmers who achieve qualification for the 2024 County Championships

A particular well done to Evie, Miabelle, Jake (all medallists!), Evan, Bella and Calum – all 6 swimmers reached County finals, as well as Cora, Freya and Lizzie who all finished in the top 8 in the County in 200m events, a great achievement in their first ever Counties.

2 more weekends of racing to come – I’d really encourage everyone in the club to watch the live feed on YouTube and cheer your teammates on, Counties are a big occasion and I hope your teammates' successes will inspire everyone in the club to set sights higher and higher.

Our next exciting challenge is the Herts Major League starting on Feb 25th – we are delighted that for the first time in the club’s history we have built enough strength in depth to field 2 teams this year.  HML gala nights are a real highlight for all swimmers to be part of and I’d encourage every single swimmer to push hard in training and race in regular competitions to break into one of our teams.  100% availability is really important to give our teams the very best chance of success.

68 swimmers have been shortlisted as a squad for the gala series – at this stage we’d like to request swimmer availability for all 3 rounds (Saturdays Feb 25th, Mar 25th, Apr 22nd).  We would be very grateful if you could let us know availability (using the google form) by Sunday Feb 5th – this is the last day of Counties and we will then use all recent times to select the final teams (likely to be 45-50 swimmers) for gala 1 during w/c Feb 6th.

Good luck this weekend everyone and keep training hard!!
